Hi, I’m Alexandra, or Alex
as most people call me.
I’m a proud metro Detroiter and have lived and worked here for all but four years of my life, when I was away at Albion College.
My background is in law. I have been a licensed Michigan attorney since 2011 when I graduated from Wayne State University Law School. I spent nine combined years practicing law for a large Midwest law firm and as in-house counsel for one of the “Big 3” Detroit automakers.
I started my legal career during the Great Recession when many banks and other financial institutions were struggling with troubled commercial loans. I helped them restructure those loans and many of the transactions involved real estate. This was my first taste of the real estate industry.
When the economy rebounded, I changed gears. Clients were starting new businesses and buying and selling existing businesses and real estate. Counseling clients through these types of transactions became my specialty.
So how did I end up selling residential real estate?
It began when I met my husband while working for the same law firm. We were married in 2014 and had our daughter the following year. I became acutely aware then that I wasn’t fulfilled in my career. I couldn’t justify leaving our daughter with a nanny 50 hours per week for a career I didn’t love.
In the meantime, my husband and I purchased the worst house on the block in a great Birmingham neighborhood. We remodeled parts of it, sold it, then upsized to our next home. (We’re now in our third home together!) I was hooked on residential real estate from there. I started following the local and national markets and consuming real estate industry news and information in my free time.
When I began thinking about a career change, it “clicked.” I could turn my personal interest in real estate into a career, continue to use my legal expertise, AND have a more flexible schedule for family life. I became a licensed Associate Broker and joined a top-producing team on a part-time basis. After a couple of years of straddling the two worlds, I made the leap to launch my own business selling real estate full-time. I have never looked back!
